Case Study: Oval Shower Curtain Pole

Did you know that we can supply bespoke poles for more than just windows? Our team recently completed a project to produce a made-to-measure shower curtain pole for a large oval shaped freestanding bath.

The brief was to design a pole that matched the shape of the bath, and could be fitted to the ceiling above it. We selected one of our top fixed Bradbury poles for the job because it’s made of stainless steel, so it won’t rust or corrode in the damp environment. This pole also fitted in seamlessly with the stainless steel accessories and the modern design of the room.

Customer R.B. and his family live in a beautiful converted agricultural building. Recently, he decided to refit the bathroom his children use to incorporate a bath with a shower.

“We found an elliptical composite stone bath that we liked and paired this with a ceiling mounted rain shower. We needed a shower curtain to wrap around the freestanding tub and we wanted the pole to echo the shape of the bath. However, there were no off-the-shelf poles that were the right dimension or matched the design aesthetic of the rest of the room.

“Having used the Curtain Pole and Track Company previously for a bespoke stainless steel pole, we decided to explore the possibility of having a custom pole bent to match the exact rim dimensions of the bath.”

The Process

Our team started the project by making dimension estimates based on the drawings provide by the bath manufacturers. To ensure these were correct, we were supplied with a template, so that we could gradually curve the pole to match the shape of the bath.

We also had to incorporate some special brackets manufactured by a local engineer, so that the pole could be fitted to the ceiling and allow for a curtain to pass.

The Final Result

The turnaround time for this project was fast, and the team made the finished the pole in less than seven days. Customer R.B. was happy with the result of the project and the service provided by The Curtain Pole and Track Company.
