The Silent Gliss 5100R Autoglide Electric Curtain Track combines straightforward electric curtain operation with the added convenience of a handheld radio remote control.
As well as the wireless wall switch supplied with the basic 5100B system, the 5100R includes a handheld transmitter, allowing you to operate your curtains from elsewhere in the room without needing to return to the wall switch.
This makes the 5100R particularly well suited to living rooms, bedrooms and other spaces where convenient remote operation is desirable.
The key difference between the 5100B and 5100R is the additional handheld remote control.
Both controls communicate wirelessly with the radio receiver integrated into the Autoglide motor, so there is no requirement for control wiring between the switch, remote and curtain track.
The wall switch provides a permanent control point within the room, while the remote handset gives you the freedom to operate the curtains from a more convenient position.
Unlike an infra-red control, the radio remote does not need to be pointed directly towards a visible receiver. This allows the motor receiver to remain discreetly integrated within the system while still providing convenient remote operation.
The Silent Gliss 5100R also incorporates Touch & Go operation.
If someone gently pulls the curtain by hand, the system recognises the movement and automatically takes over the opening or closing action.
This means the curtains can still be operated naturally when you are standing beside the window, without always having to find the wall switch or remote handset.
An integrated manual override ensures the curtains remain usable if the electrical supply is interrupted.
During a power cut, the curtains can be opened or closed manually without needing to disconnect or alter the track.
This provides a useful practical safeguard and means the curtains are not entirely dependent on motorised operation.
The original Silent Gliss 5100 Autoglide system is designed for curtains weighing up to 25kg and track widths up to 5m.
This makes it suitable for a wide range of light and medium-weight curtain installations, including larger windows where the convenience of electric operation can be particularly useful.
When selecting an electric curtain track, the total finished weight of the curtains should be considered to ensure the system is suitable for the installation.
The Silent Gliss 5100 Autoglide can be bent to follow bay and curved window layouts, allowing motorised curtains to work around more complex window shapes rather than being limited to straight installations.
Where a shaped track is required, we can prepare the system to your measurements using our professional bending service, with excellent craftsmanship helping to create a made-to-measure track suited to the individual window.
The 5100R can be ceiling fixed or wall fixed, allowing the installation to be adapted to the window and surrounding space.
Ceiling fixing can create a clean appearance with the curtains positioned close to the ceiling, while wall fixing may be preferable where the track needs to project forward from the window.
The Silent Gliss 5100 Autoglide can also be used with the Silent Gliss Wave curtain heading system.
Wave curtains form a consistent series of soft folds along the track, creating a neat and contemporary curtain appearance.
Combining Wave curtains with motorised operation can be particularly effective where a clean, controlled curtain finish is an important part of the room design.
The original Silent Gliss 5100 Autoglide is supplied with a 5m power cable and standard UK 3-pin plug.
This means the track can connect to a suitable mains socket without the control system requiring dedicated pre-wiring.
A correctly positioned mains socket will therefore need to be available within reach of the power cable.
The Autoglide system features soft start and close operation, helping the curtains begin and finish their movement smoothly.
Together with the wireless controls, Touch & Go and manual override, this gives the 5100R several different ways of managing the curtains while maintaining simple everyday operation.

What is the difference between the Silent Gliss 5100B and 5100R?
The 5100B is operated using a wireless wall switch.
The 5100R includes the same wall-switch operation but adds a handheld radio remote control, allowing you to open and close the curtains from elsewhere in the room.
If you would like the convenience of remote operation as well as a permanent wall control, the 5100R is the more suitable option.
Does the Silent Gliss 5100R still come with a wall switch?
Yes. The 5100R includes both the wireless wall switch and a handheld remote control.
This gives you a fixed control point on the wall as well as the convenience of portable remote operation.
Do I have to point the remote at the curtain track?
No. The 5100R uses radio communication rather than infra-red control, so the remote does not need to be pointed directly towards a visible receiver.
The radio receiver is integrated into the Autoglide motor.
Does the wall switch need wiring to the curtain track?
No. The wall switch communicates wirelessly with the receiver incorporated within the motor, so there is no separate control cable running between the wall switch and the track.
Does the Silent Gliss 5100R require an electrician?
The original Autoglide system is supplied with a 5m power cable and standard UK 3-pin plug, allowing it to be connected to a suitable mains socket rather than requiring dedicated control wiring.
Can the Silent Gliss 5100R be used in a bay window?
Yes. The SG 5100 Autoglide can be bent for bay and curved windows.
For a shaped installation, the track can be prepared to your measurements using our professional bending service.

This version of the Silent Gliss 5100 Autoglide is suitable for curtains weighing up to 25kg, with a maximum system width of 5m.
What happens if there is a power cut?
The Autoglide has an integrated manual override, allowing the curtains to be opened or closed by hand if the power supply fails.
Can I operate the curtains by hand?
Yes. The Autoglide features Touch & Go operation.
When you gently pull the curtain, the motor detects the movement and automatically takes over the opening or closing action.
Can the Silent Gliss 5100R be used with Wave curtains?
Yes. The Silent Gliss 5100 Autoglide is compatible with the Silent Gliss Wave curtain heading system.
Can the Silent Gliss 5100R be ceiling fixed?

What are the four Silent Gliss 5100 Autoglide control options?
The original 5100 Autoglide range is available in four control configurations:
5100B – wireless wall switch
5100R – wireless wall switch and handheld remote control
5100T – wireless wall switch and timer control
5100TC – wall switch, handheld remote control and timer
The main track and motorised functions remain consistent across the family; the principal difference is the way the curtains can be controlled.
