A Guide to Buying Silent Gliss Curtain Tracks

High-quality and extremely affordable, Silent Gliss curtain tracks are popular all around the globe. They were first invented by a Swiss engineer in 1952 who had the idea to combine nylon gliders with aluminium tracks to create a completely silent curtain operation. Since then, they have carefully developed their product to achieve bending of poles, electrical operation and more.

To help you choose your Silent Gliss Curtain Tracks, we have put together a step-by-step buying guide…

  • They can be cut to measure and made bespoke to your needs
  • Tracks also come in various different measurements up to 6 metres (but can be doubled up if necessary)

Catering for L-shaped or bay windows

An awkward-shaped window can appear difficult to dress and you may feel lost as to how you’re going to get around the unique shapes and angles. However, Silent Gliss have options available for both L-shaped and bay windows that can be made bespoke to you using our specialist tools. To cater to these types of windows, the tracks have to be bent by us, using the measurements you will have provided.

Silent Gliss is an ideal option for bay windows as they allow for smooth curtain operation, even on a curve or around sharp corners. Also, if you are looking to opt for a layering style, you can use double brackets to allow two tracks to sit one in front of the other. This is perfect if you want to add netting or voile alongside your curtains.

Do I need hand drawn or corded tracks?

You will need to decide whether you want hand drawn or corded curtain tracks. This decision may depend on the type of curtains you have and the ease in which you want them to be opened and closed.

For light curtains, netting or voile, hand drawn may be the best option as the lightweight material means there won’t be much weight or pressure on the track and they will glide smoothly by hand.

If opting for medium weight curtains but you still want them hand drawn, the Silent Gliss 1080 uncorded track is a great option.

On the other hand, corded tracks may be the preferred option for ease of opening and closing, as well as avoiding fingerprints or dirty marks on the curtain fabric. The Silent Gliss 3000 is the perfect choice for light to medium curtains and can be bent to cater for bay windows. For heavier fabrics, Silent Gliss 3900 would be best as it is specially designed to hold up to 22kg in curtain weight.

What are electric curtain tracks?

For the more modern home owner, you may take interest in the idea of an electrical curtain track system. With timer controls and easy operation, these are ideal for making your home feel extra secure if you are away from home as well as being able to operate your curtains from the comfort of your sofa or bed!

With options available for wave curtains, L-shaped and bay windows, electric curtain tracks are extremely versatile and can always be catered to your needs. We have various options available including the Silent Gliss 5100 with multiple features to choose from and the 5600 with basic motor or radio module.
