Spotlight on Silent Gliss Metropole

It’s our bestselling curtain pole for a reason: the Silent Gliss Metropole is a popular choice for anyone who values functionality, flexibility and good looks. Find out more about this versatile curtain pole and its features and specifications in our comprehensive Silent Gliss Metropole review.

Smooth operation

The Metropole looks like a regular curtain pole, but it operates very differently. Unlike a normal pole, the Metropole doesn’t use rings to hold up your curtains. Instead, hidden nylon gliders concealed inside the pole move smoothly along its length, carrying the curtains in the manner of a track. The result is an exceptionally fluid and frictionless operation (hence the Silent in the product name), allowing you to draw your curtains open or shut with ease, with no obstruction from passing brackets.

The Silent Gliss Metropole can be operated using a remote control, pull cords, or by hand. Electric operation is perfect for hard-to-reach areas, as curtains can be opened or closed using a remote control. If you’re opting for corded operation, you can choose to position the cord on the left, right or on both sides. Hand-drawn curtains are a pleasure to operate, with absolutely no friction or obstruction.

Versatile options

A trademark feature of the Metropole curtain system is its versatility. There are multiple options to choose from when it comes to size, shape, colour and fittings – so whatever the dimensions of your window or the style of your home, you’ll find something to suit you.  The 15 different colours and finishes available include antique bronze, classic gold and wood-effect oak, and there is a range of 14 styles of decorative finials, so that you can match the look and feel of your home. Size-wise, the Silent Gliss round pole is sold in 3 different diameters: 23mm, 30mm and 50mm. (There’s also a 36mm Metro Flat option.)

Bespoke curves to fit your windows

A big advantage of the Metropole over conventional curtain poles is its flexibility. No review would be complete without mentioning the way that the pole can be bent into a bespoke shape to fit your space, making it ideal for bay windows and other curved areas. When you order a Metropole it is made to measure, so you can be sure it will fit your window, even if it is an unusual size or shape.

As well as flexing to fit your space, the Metropole is an excellent option for other types of ‘difficult’ window. The pole can be fixed flush with the ceiling if needed, making it suitable for windows that meet the ceiling. It is available in lengths of up to 600cm, so large windows and patio doors can be catered for with ease, and if you have heavy velvet or damask drapes, it’s no problem; the Metropole is a strong piece of hardware, able to support heavy curtains with its characteristic smooth handling. For extra-heavy drapes, extra roller gliders can be added.

The Silent Gliss Metropole comes with a 5-year guarantee. For more information and a full list of available colours and finials, check out the Silent Gliss 6130 Metropole product page.
